Most of ZFZ is currently in Dallas, TX getting ready for Quakecon 2002. Last night we had a match on finca with Population Control Inc (PCI). We had a rough start, PCI did a great job keeping us off balance. As PCI began to pull ahead 6-2 it looked like we might lose a round on our blue side. The next round our guys stepped it back up and we rallied taking the next 5 rounds against PCI.

PCI had a strange defense, but always managed to keep me off balanced in my position, luckily KillaG, and Kev stepped it up and we pulled a win in a very close round. Our Finca defense was very effective, being lanned helped a little, but we played aggressively and held PCI back for 7 rounds. Good Game PCI. Scores:

14-6 Finca -- ZFZ 7-6 as blue -- ZFZ 7-0 as red.

I also posted a Picture Gallery of all the pictures I got from Supra, and the ones I've taken myself of Aug 12-13th. More updates as they become available. I hope to be able to post pictures from Quakecon, but doubt they will allow us much upstream.

Hi everyone, a quick update on what has happened over the past few days, today we defended our #1 position on the TWL ladder by beating the formidable Deviant Objectives in another very close match. We practiced and prepared many days in advance, and it definitely paid off. The scores were:

7-3 Raven -- ZFZ 4-1 as blue -- ZFZ 3-2 as red.
6-4 Hk1 -- ZFZ 3-2 as red -- ZFZ 3-2 as blue.

As you can see we've added some forums that you can use to post anything and everything. Feel free to take a browse every so often, we'll be periodically posting nonsense. :p

Another update on the Quakecon 2002: Frost, Killagorilla, Drwho, Kev and Lagwagon are confirmed to be attending. Let us know via the forum if you're coming to qcon 2k2!

It's been a while since the last update, we had some problems with our webspace, so we decided to move to Recoil's Rackshack box with this new domain zerofivezero.com provided by cm from zfz's first Counter-Strike squad(thanks cm!). A lot has happened since the last update, we worked our way up to the #1 rung on the TWL ladder by beating PCI in the closest matches we've had to this date. I'd like to thank Solicitor for his kind words in this forum post. The scores were:

5-5 Col1 -- PCI wins as red in OT.
6-4 Shop -- PCI 3-2 as blue -- ZFZ 4-1 as blue.
6-3 HK1 -- ZFZ 4-1 as blue -- ZFZ wins 2-2 as red. VGGs PCI

We've also received an invitation to the Ahriman Invitational Tournament (AIT) which we will be participating once it kicks off. Our very own Penguin (Killagorilla) will be one of the admins. We've also been informed about IGL's upcoming SoF2 tournament, and we're very excited from what we've heard. They seem to have a lot of sponsors lined up, we'll definitely see if we can get in on the action!

ZFZ has also become involved in the Anti-Cheat Panel for SoF2, which is a newly formed panel of respected and experienced SoF2 clans. It is our hope that leagues will trust ACPanel to evaluate demos for suspicious behavior in the event of disputes in league matches.

On a final note, I want to talk about a thought someone shared with me earlier today. I don't know the status of the SoF2 scene over in Europe right now.. wouldn't it be cool to see a few International scrims and matches? I think so! Just think about it.. North America vs Germany or North America vs Sweden, sounds like it would be fun!

Hello everyone. We've been busy the past few weeks here in zfzland. To start things off, I'd like to mention that due to the disbanding of Lethal Force, we are the IGL Champions by default. Obviously not the way we would have liked to win it, but it was unavoidable.

Also, we played a match against Wolf Pack (WP) for TWL. Somehow through forfeits and teams dropping from the ladder they got ahead of us, and I didn't hesitate to challenge them again. We won again in a convincing manner, but they have definitely improved since our last match, so good games to them.

Last night we played our Week 3 CAL Preseason match with Zombie Gods, Inc (ZGi). They proved to be our most formidable opponents in a while. The final score was 20-7 in our favor, but the match in truth was much closer. Many of the rounds could have gone either way and came down to crucial 1v1 situations, most of which we (somewhat luckily) won. Congrats to them on a game well played, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go far in CAL this season.

Today was a big day for Zero Five Zero, we played our second TWL match against World Leaders, a very classy bunch of guys, took the match 10-0, 10-0. I always enjoy TWL matches because the strategy for 7v7 or in this case 6v6 is a bit less traditional. Then came our match against Team Fusion, another classy bunch of guys that I believe come to sof2 from the Tribes2 community. Team Fusion showed up early and ready to play, which we really appreciated. We took this match 10-1, 10-1, gg guys.

Over the past few days, I had been talking to Recoil, team leader of ]LF[, I had always found him to be a very skilled player, with a professional demeanor and a great attitude. Recoil informed me that he was forced to retire ]LF[ because many of the core players, had stopped playing sof2 to pursue different games. I told him that, if he ever needed a team to play with, to consider ZFZ and he told me he would think about it. To make a long story short, ZFZ would like to welcome Recoil, and the skill, experience, and strategies he brings with him.

Well, we finally played our IGL match against Deviant tonight and we ended up taking this one 10-4. Don't let the score fool you though, dev played a very tough match as red and the game was anyones at halftime with us leading 5-4. Luckily, we were able to switch some things around when it was our turn for defense and we shut them out 5-0 in the second half. Good game deviant... we hope to see you again soon in CAL!

Next week we will be playing LF for the finals in this now aging IGL MP Test tourney. It will take 2 consecutive wins to pull this one out due to our previous loss to them. Should be interesting. ;)

Tonight we played Wolf Pack (WP) for our first TWL match. TWL format is 7 on 7, so we were worried at first that it would be mass chaos. It actually worked out reasonably well, with only shop being chaos. Colombia seems better suited for 7 on 7. Anyway, we came out with the win, and the peasants rejoiced, etc. Good games, WP. Check out the battles page for screenshots.

Fourth IGL match today, against LF, we lost the match 5-3 0-5. Unfortunately our strategies didn't really seem to pan out. Something to work on I suppose. I'd also like to mention that ZFZ will most likely be attending Quakecon 2002, Frost, Killagorilla, Drwho and Lagwagon will be attending. In other news, I was interviewed by Oneshot, I made a few candid remarks and observations about competition in SOF2. You can take a look at the interview by clicking here.

On another note, I'm was contacted this morning by people that witnessed other players masquerading as ZFZ members on public servers. I was told these aliased players are using some kind of wallhack, and I assure everyone, no real ZFZ member uses cheats. I don't know who these individuals are and frankly I don't really care. If you suspect someone is aliasing as a ZFZ member you can always come on IRC and talk to us about it.

We had our third IGL match today, against AO, they only had 3 players online, so we went for a 3v3. I was pretty confident that we are well practiced as a team. I think the practice paid off when we took the series 5-0 5-0. We've also recently started practicing and scrimming on the full retail version and are learning the new maps. I am personally awaiting the upcoming demolition (defusion) mod for the next Soldier of Fortune 2 patch. We'll shall see.

Woo hoo, we had our second IGL match today, we faced off against one of the best teams currently playing SOF2: Xband. We knew that this was going to be a very tough match, so we practiced almost all week in preperation. Since XBN is mostly a west team, we agreed to split the maps and played the first map as red (defense) on Stanford, and the second as blue (offense) on I-Lan TX. After a long and hard fight (3-5, 5-3), a tie breaker was required. Since the pings were most balanced on I-Lan TX, thats where we played, and in good faith ZFZ let Xband to pick which side they wanted to play. With us on red (defense) we were able to take the tie-breaker 5-1. We are really happy with our win, I'm glad all our practicing paid off.

We had our first IGL match today, in the IGL SOF2 Infiltration Open tournament. The winner of this tournament takes home a free 6 month Private I-Lan clan server. Since we are in need of a server pretty badly, and I-Lan TX pings great for us, so we'd really like to win this tourney! In our first match we faced Zero Tolerance: Alpha, they were lagging pretty bad (I think they were on modem) so we took the series 5-0 5-0. zfz.Undercover Brother is zfz.glock.
