Definition: Zero Five Zero - stands for
050, o5o, oso meaning "oh so".
Zero Five Zero's Soldier of Fortune 2 division was
founded in May 2002. Both Penguin and Cyanide approached
Frost expressing interest in forming team after a
playing the well received the SOF2 MP Test. Penguin
had been a founder of ZFZ's Counter-Strike division,
and Cyanide had been the leader of ZFZ's Urban Terror
team. Having talked with both players Frost decided
that ZFZ would probably field a team for the upcoming
game Soldier of Fortune 2.
It wasn't until we found out that IGL was holding
a SOF2 MP Test tournament, that it became clear to
us that the popularity of the SOF2 MP Test was already
sparking demand for ladders and tournaments. We decided
to expedite getting a team together, and Cyanide signed
us up for the IGL tournament. From our experience
so far, we hope that the large tournaments and leagues
will support SOF2.
Zero Five Zero would not be a reality if it were
not for individuals like Cyanide, Penguin, Kev and
Recoil who have generously donated their time to make
sure we stay active and participate in the best leagues
and tournaments. As we look towards the playoffs in
our first season in CAL, we are hopeful that the Soldier
of Fortune 2 community will continue to grow as more
casual players push themselves to compete with the
hardcore veterans.
ZFZ will continue to support the community in any
way we can. We helped consult for the mod Mandown,
and will offer any consulting or feedback to tournaments,
leagues, or mods that want our input. We will be happy
to work with leagues like CAL, IGL and TWL to help
refine SOF2 into a viable e-sports platform that appeals
players of all backgrounds.
July 16th 2002, ZFZ won the IGL MP Test tournament
by default, this ended one of the best tournaments
I've ever played in. The game was cool, the teams
were cool, we had a great time and took home a free
6 month I-LAN 12 player gaming server for SOF2.
October 9th 2002 we took first pace in IGL's Only
The Best tournament, this was the first online tournament
ZFZ has ever participated in that mailed prizes out
to the winning clan!
November 4th 2002 ZFZ became the CAL SOF2 Season
1 Champions, we advanced through the season undefeated,
and were able to maintain that status in the playoffs
to win the playoffs. ZFZ would like to thank Wonderdog
and the Team Sportscast Network for their overwhelming
support of CAL SOF2 Season 1.
February 25th 2002 ZFZ took 2nd place in CAL-invite
SOF2, we advanced through the season with only one
lost, and ended the playoffs with our only loss to
the champs. ZFZ would like to thank Wonderdog and
Smak for shoutcasting all our CAL matches, and the
Team Sportscast Network for their continued support
for CAL SOF2. 200 Listeners!
